Michelle Obama’s new book, America Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America, features the 611 Walker Container Gardens, known as City Gardens, instigated by Keiji Asakura. “For years, the only thing outside the Bob Lanier Public Works Building in Houston, Texas, was concrete.
