New Hope Housing, Inc. develops and operates affordable, single room occupancy
(SRO) housing with access to social services. The New Hope Board has developed a
strategic plan to build and operate 1,000 SRO units in the downtown Houston area by
the end of the decade.
As part of this plan, New Hope Housing facilitated the development and construction
of the Canal Street Apartments. The Second Ward/East End location’s median income
of $10,500 is well below the poverty level.
Asakura Robinson Company provided landscape design for the development in
collaboration with the project architect, Val Glitsch, FAIA.
