The Oaks is a 27-duplex, partially gated, affordable housing site located at 4300 Broadway in Galveston. The development was a collaborative effort between Galveston Housing Authority’s Non-Profit entity (GRACE), HUD, the City of Galveston, and local philanthropic foundations.
For the landscape plan of the fourth phase of the project, Asakura Robinson Company mirrored phase one in design, using similar plant material that is either native or adapted to the coastal environment to complete a consistent look. Live Oaks, Oleander, Sabal Palm, California Fan Palm, Natal Plum and Foxtail Fern are all incorporated into the design along with an adequate irrigation system.
The development, aimed at elderly residents and offered at 65% cost to homeowners, focuses on community, featuring plenty of internal green space and a walking loop to encourage interaction and activity.
