Asakura Robinson, along with our team, is pleased to announce we have been selected to develop Plan Downtown, a new 20 year vision for Downtown Houston. We will be working with the Downtown District, Central Houston, Downtown Redevelopment Authority / TIRZ No.3, Houston First Corporation, Theater District Houston, Buffalo Bayou Partnership and the City of Houston, as well as representatives of the adjacent communities, to craft a plan that positions Downtown at the forefront in leading Houston’s advancement as a great global city.
Our team, which includes Sasaki Associates, TEI and HR&A, includes local and national experts in urban design, landscape architecture, transportation planning and economic development. Our strategy is to develop a plan that focuses on both the high level, 30,000 foot policy and program recommendations, while also developing street level recommendations that catalyze the stakeholder’s vision and provide on-the-ground improvements that directly impact the experience of being Downtown. We are especially excited to work closely with a large stakeholder committee, utilizing data and experiential engagement to build a vision that participants are excited to support.
The project will also include a multitude of opportunities for public involvement, including public workshops, tours and small, topical discussions of issues from transportation to economic development to housing. To keep up to date with the project, please follow Downtown Houston on Facebook.
