Bagby Street Visualization

From project lead Walter P. Moore, here’s a visualization of the Bagby Street Greenroads Reconstruction project in Midtown Houston. The video takes you from St. Joseph across West Gray and down to Webster. We’re very proud to have been a part of the team on this wonderful redesign that combines complete streets methods to improve the pedestrian experience and calm traffic while also managing stormwater in new and exciting ways and providing more on-street parking. The final product will be an attractive, verdant street that’s great for pedestrians and drivers!

Pat, I’m sorry you’re having issues opening the video. You can find it on the Midtown Houston Facebook page or try this direct link from their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151270571635420

I like the video. So, is the idea that bikes will be in the same lanes with vehicles? I’m guessing that’s the answer, which is fine, just wondering. Too bad we couldn’t have a more protected option for bikes, but that’s life in constrained ROWs.

Yes, in this case bikes will share the lane with cars. The new landscaping and bulbouts, along with some forced turns, should significantly lower average travel speeds and encourage safe road sharing.
