Asakura Robinson was engaged by Powers Brown Architecture to upgrade the landscape at the Dover Energy regional facility located in the Spectrum District of Pearland, Texas. The project goal was to create an inviting landscape atmosphere with an established look that blends in with the nearby forest and softens the industrial office park surroundings. To complement an existing detention pond on site, large, drought-tolerant trees were selected and placed randomly throughout so as to create a natural look among the older, existing trees. An outdoor courtyard, walkway, and dining area were created to provide employees with convenient access to nature and space for socializing. Large flowering shrubs and trees, including river birch, crape myrtles, and azaleas, were chosen for the planting palette to provide a semi-enclosed space that disguises a loading dock and other utilitarian building features.
