Asakura Robinson Company was recently engaged by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas to provide landscape improvements for its Houston Branch. The project incorporates Low Impact Development (LID) techniques that work with nature to manage stormwater as close to its source as possible. Design includes a reorganized layout of the existing parking lot with the addition of bioswales that drain into a dual-purpose landscape feature designed to help with flooding issues. An area has been created to serve as a point of interest and a place for employees to enjoy the outdoors. A tiered slope featuring fruit trees, native plants and a meandering stream leads down to a natural detention pond that serves to detain and mitigate storm water run-off from the parking lot before it infiltrates back into the groundwater.
